That is a bit strange, but I know exactly where you're coming from. Even though I'm not Ernya poor, I still feel bad when I spend copious amounts of gold at once.

What concerns me more is that people talk down to you. Even if you were new, is that how people should be treated? I haven't experienced it (this account is new, but I am not) so I can't exactly speak from experience. Is it more like elitism ("Haha, I have more items so I'm better!") or are they just generally more condescending ("Oh, you must not know all about this feature..")?

I think Emy and the rest of the staff have done a pretty good job at making this both a female and male friendly site. We have tons of unisex items, we have cutesy and not-so-cutesy site layouts (example: Normal night header, simple night header) that can appeal to either gender, and the community is more than accepting of both sexes. I think there's just more females here because females are more prone to urges to dress up.

I sometimes get people talking down to me on other sites because my avis are noobish, even though I have been there for a long time.
I just don't really like any of the items there enough to buy them.
It's stupid when people assume stuff like that.

And even if you were a noob, really what does it matter as long as you aren't being a douche nozzle.

A lot of us here on Ernya are female.
There are still quite a few cool dudes floating around here though.
And a lot of males dress in female avis because there are more layering options or they like the bases of females more.

I've never actually come across anyone belittling anyone because of being a newbie, or looking like a newbie. I think most people just try to be helpful to new users. ouo

I may still change it again but I'm not sure. I think I like this one.

I actually never had anyone talk down to me when I was a newcomer and I never once seen it myself. Though, reminding newcomers of the rules of the site isn't really talking down on them o3o
People around this community really don't care about your worth lol.

I don't think I've ever had anyone talking down on me. someone sent me mail notifying me that my sig was big and i modified it so it's within the image req..that's about it. Ava wise. I use what little I have and try to switch up or when events come around, get those and mix it up.

When I first joined, I spent about a month in the cheapest clothes possible to save up my gold so I could buy something more expensive, and honestly I don't think I was treated/talked to any differently then than I am now. I think the divide is a lot smaller here than it is on other avatar sites, here it seems mostly to be popularity based on whether or not people recognize you and remember you from past conversations/seeing you around all the time, and less about sucking up to users with expensive items on.
