View topic - Help from a Mod Please?
So I just joined and was looking over the rules. Now I'm pretty sure people talking to them selves is spam. Makes sense. I imagine this is determined by your IP address.
Now I have a slight problem. I was convinced to join this site by a friend to get involved with an RP with her. So heres the problem. My computer is her old one. Mine died a few days ago and she gave me her old netbook and I know she has used this computer to log onto her account as recently as earlier today while she was clearing her documents and pictures off. The other part of this problem is that we are room mates. We share the same internet.
Now we both know that we aren't the same people. But what I don't want is a mod looking at peoples IP addresses and thinking that this is one person talking to them selves.
Is there a way to avoid this?

The actual computer you use doesn't matter - your IP is not assigned based on the hardware (however, the hardware does have a permanently assigned MAC address)
It's all about how you face the internet.
If you're both behind the same router, then it might be a problem because the router faces the Internet and will show up as the same IP
I know of someone that had this problem - she and her sister were both members, and I think the mods though that her sister was "fake". I think they ended up having to submit pictures proving there were two different people.

Thank you for bringing this issue up, especially since this is an IP address/RP partner issue.
Will your RPs be group RPs or one-on-one RPs? You may have seen this already, but for reference this rules post explains the details behind the IP address issue with RP partners. If the RP you guys are involved with is a group RP, or if the threads you will be talking to each other in have others posting along with you, it shouldn't be an issue. However, if it is a one-on-one situation you must have a different IP.
You have to be chatting with other users in your threads. :)
The solution mentioned with the siblings and photo-provided proof is not viable in this case as although siblings might indeed have different accounts, we cannot prove if one is using the second the account if the other is not around, thus the middle-ground allowing them to converse as long as it is in a group settings.
