I read fanfiction, a lot of fanfiction and if this place is still alive I wish to speak in it and also plug my friend's first Dragon Ball Z fanfiction which is here: Legacy. It's an Au fic that he has put a lot of time and effort in so please make him a better writer by giving him good constructive criticism.

I read a lot of slash, and I mean a lot of slash. I've seen a lot of weird pairings as well, so if you need well slash, I could hook you up >.>. Man, I feel like I'm selling drugs, but that's besides the point. I'm currently into the Batman and Phantom of the Opera...that's about it so far, I'll figure out more as I go a long xD

A winner is you.
It does sound like a drug dealer. xD I see so many crack pairings too, especially when I used to run around in the KH section.

I know of Kingdom Heart's fanfiction, but I never bothered to read any because I only played the first game and never managed to get off of the island >.> It seems really interesting though, what's the best crack pairing you've seen so far?

A winner is you.
From KH, or just in general? For KH I remember seeing Zexion x Aerith fics, I can't really remember other crack pairings I found in that section, it's been a while. lol But I usually go for canon stuff most of the time.

I think I should introduce myself here for the hell of it.

I'm a casual fanfiction reader. I like reading really creative adaptations -- I think wish fulfillment and poor excuses for empty fluff pairings belong in a wholly separate category from works with more fun and more complex ideas for building on fandoms.

The best examples I can think of for fanfic I adore are The Naked Quidditch Match and The Journal of One Kenny McCormack. They both found a fresh and hilarious look at their chosen fandom and created a complete, unique story in a gap timeframe (in the former case, while the series was still incomplete, in the latter, a few years after the TV series). The latter example is an awesome use of referential humour without being comically lazy.

I haven't found any more serious-toned fanfics that I found to be irresistible reading. Seems like too many writers choose fandoms because they're not comfortable in their own characters and settings, and so put their undeveloped voices and situations onto premade casts and universes with unrewarding results.

That said, if you can show me something written with a serious, even tragic storyline that believably and creatively builds on an existing work, I'm very keen to see such examples.

As a writter, I dabble now and then in different kinds of fanfiction. I have an ongoing project I toy with when I'm bored of taking a copy of Twilight and sentence-by-sentence making the kind of corrections and alterations that a serious editor should have made a long time ago, and sculpting it into some kind of story of substance.
I take very personal insult to Meyer's 'have-a-wet-dream, write-it-down, publish' approach to what should be the fine craft of writing.

I also want to come up with a story working from the starting point of Andersen's The Little Mermaid. Apart from the guilt-morality ending that was tacked on for the sake of getting a children's story published in those days, various elements of the beautiful story have inspired me for a long time, and I wanna get it out of my system.

I like crazy stuff like Tank Girl, FLCL, Excel Saga, Sayonara Zetsubou-san, Dresden Codak, South Park, Harvey Birdman, LOZ: Ocarina of Time, Aeon Flux, Harvest Moon, MLP: Friendship is Magic.

And what I really wanna see one day, either as an amazing fanfic or the world's awesomest videogame, is something like a crossover between Dead Rising and Harvest Moon.

    Hi.

I can see where you're coming from with the creative adaptations - there are so many cliche story lines out there. The cliche part doesn't nearly bother me as much as the fact that the author just didn't do a good job with the grammar and plot. I like it when authors put a creative spin on cliches, makes things interesting.

I also agree with what you said about Twilight. I don't mind getting ideas for stories through dreams, but obviously they should be built on for a while instead of jumping straight in and getting a mess out of it.

I'mma force myself to finish something over Christmas... I just need inscentive. >>
I'm too much of a perfectionist sometimes.

I prefer serious fic over humour now though.
I find it hard to find a genuinely funny story that isn't written like it's trying too hard.
Though I agree that it's near impossible to find a good serious piece too.
There are a few though. :)

art req

"Faith is a bluebird you see from afar, it's for real and as sure as the first evening star. You can't touch it or buy it or wrap it up tight, but it's there all the same, making things turn out right."
I always find a lot of OOC humor, and I wrote a few myself back when I used to write KH stories. I don't like them much anymore but someone got a laugh out of them, so I can't bring myself to delete them.

I've been working on something for a while now too, and hopefully it'll be ready soon.

xD

I've been having an affair with a new ff.net account instead of my old one. Does that count? xD

Hm...possibly.
I'm not entirely certain.

This may require active research.

At least something good is coming out of this affair? xD I finally managed to submit something after doing nothing but being lazy and procrastinating all year. x3

-bows- owo

I'll share but, shhh, I is hiding from people following me on my old account. >3> For various reasons. http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2929745/

Did your affair go well?
Post by bluemoonlightgirl » Sun Jan 01, 2012 1:23 am
I have dabbled from time to time in writing fanfic's. It never lasts long as I rarely have time. I would love to write more often if I were given the chance. Though I am also my worst critic and I haven't really written anything for that reason.

I am however an avid reader and try and read as much fanfiction as I can. Again I love it.

So to introduce myself rather late in the game I am Kate and if you want to look at my old fanfiction page go ahead http://www.fanfiction.net/u/254560/ . [/url]
